Panama assumes chair of OAS Permanent Council

WASHINGTON, USA – The Permanent Representative of Panama to the Organization of American States (OAS), María del Carmen Roquebert León, has assumed the chair of the OAS Permanent Council.

“In assuming the chair of the Permanent Council, Panama reiterates its historic vocation to promote dialogue and conciliation through moderation and its traditional evenhanded approach to all sister countries,” said the new Chair at the ceremony.

The outgoing chair and Permanent Representative of Jamaica to the OAS, Audrey Marks, highlighted the work done during her time as chair, said: “Thank you for your cooperation and support during this challenging period brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and the efforts to overcome it.
