Honduras assumes chair of the Inter American Council for Integral Development of the OAS

WASHINGTON, USA, (OAS) – Honduras has assumed the chair of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) of the Organization of American States (OAS) for the first semester of 2021, in a virtual ceremony, the Organization announced on Friday.

The new chair of CIDI, the Permanent Representative of Honduras, Luis Cordero, said that during his mandate he will promote the priorities of the hemisphere such as addressing climate change, access to green climate funds, food and nutrition security, and rebuilding resilience for sustainable development.

“We will continue to reinforce CIDI’s tasks with the collaboration of all member states, permanent observers, and our strategic partners to continue building a region of opportunities,” added ambassador Cordero.

During the ceremony, the Interim Permanent Representative of Haiti, Bocchit Edmond, received a plaque in recognition of the work of the outgoing chair of CIDI and ambassador of Haiti, Leon Charles.
