Caribbean CBI countries organise towards MOA – July 1, 2024

  • Antigua – Barbuda issued Programme Changes and Guidance on File Submission
  • Grenada legislates amendments – principal regulations
  • Saint Lucia amends the Citizenship Act
  • Antigua and Barbuda “advised of an inability to complete the required parliamentary approval process by the stated deadline.”

TORONTO, Canada – In the apparent move by Caribbean CBI countries to press forward with the implementation of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), effective July 01, 2024, the following is conveyed: 

Antigua and Barbuda in a memo dated 26, June 2024 to CIP stakeholders issued Programme Changes and Guidance on File Submission and advised – “ In a meeting of the signatories to the Agreement held 19th June 2024, Antigua and Barbuda underscored our commitment to the MOA, and advised of an inability to complete the required parliamentary approval process by the stated deadline.”

Grenada Citizenship by Investment (amendment) regulations, 2024, and shall be read as one with the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Regulations, SRO No. 17 of 2013, hereinafter referred to as the “principal regulations”.

Saint Lucia signed the MOA on June 3, 2024 and on June 27, 2024, amended The Citizenship of Saint Lucia Act. “The historic amendment to the Citizenship of Saint Lucia Act will make Saint Lucian descendants born overseas eligible to represent our country nationally and create new avenues for second-generation Saint Lucians to contribute to the development of Saint Lucia. Tens of thousands of Saint Lucian descendants living in diaspora communities around the world will benefit from the amended Citizenship of Saint Lucia Act,” said the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) in a press release.
