AMT program opens TechOps talent pipeline for Delta in Atlanta

ATLANTA, USA, (DELTA News Hub) – Atlanta Technical College will resume its Aviation Maintenance Airframe Certificate Program in the spring, giving Delta another important pipeline for talented TechOps professionals in the company’s home state.

The FAA has recertified the program, the school announced Wednesday, noting that Delta officials worked closely with Atlanta Technical College in the process. The school is part of the Technical College System of Georgia, giving students another affordable education option in the state.

“Providing this curriculum not only enhances the opportunities available to students in our community, but also supports our efforts to present a compelling career path at Delta TechOps while students are in aviation programs,” said Joe McDermott, Delta’s managing director – people development and culture, who also serves on the college’s board of directors.

TechOps currently partners with numerous schools in Georgia and provides support in avionics and composite training and curriculum so that students are qualified to be hired by Delta as soon as they graduate.

In support of its technical aviation pipeline strategy, Delta Air Lines in 2018 contributed $500,000 to the Center for Workforce Innovation at Atlanta Technical College to assist in getting the Aviation Maintenance Airframe Certificate Program re-certified.

Meanwhile, the Delta Air Lines Foundation has contributed $250,000 shared among five technical colleges in Georgia in support of their avionics and composite training and curriculum.

Aside from careers in TechOps, Delta continues to hire talented professionals across the business in Reservations and Customer Care, Airport Customer Service and Cargo and Flight Operations. Currently, Delta is looking to recruit 1,000 new pilots over the next year. Additionally, Delta will have 3,000 new flight attendants serving customers for summer 2022 flying and beyond.
