WORRRD Up poetry slam

By Caribbean News Global contributor

CASTRIES, St Lucia – Prosperity through effortlessly decorating golden opportunity is the mantra of the one and only, Callum James, who goes by the title The Poet.

Sir Arthur Lewis Community College alongside the Hunter J Francois Library brought back the “WORRRD Up Poetry Slam” where 16 students of the college brought their poetry pieces to life on stage in front of a studio and live audience and from there they were adjudicated by a panel of judges.

Only eight poets made it the next round, but of course, one star shone brighter than the rest.

The Poet, in the preliminary round shone bright like a diamond with his socially relevant piece entitled “Master Class.”

With poise, stature and drilled delivery of his perspectives on poverty, violence, attitudes to language and the colonial perception of history, he was able to elevate the consciousness of the audience.

The finals of the competition is scheduled for January 28, 2022, at the Nobel Laureate Festival where everyone with knowledge of the competition is looking forward to seeing The Poet, effortlessly decorate golden opportunities to raise the consciousness of society through the power of “Master Class” as well as the other performers who are competing in the slam, such as Melanie Richard, Jayde Thomas and others.
