UK announces support for Anguilla to improve its economic resilience

THE VALLEY, Anguilla – The UK is committed to supporting Anguilla and its economic development, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) announced.

“FCDO ministers agreed with the premier of Anguilla a 3-year programme to fund projects that improve Anguilla’s economic resilience; will make £4 million available next year and consider similar sums in the following two years. As a next step the UK and Anguilla governments will work together to agree the projects to be funded. This work will be taken forward alongside the reforms being implemented by the government of Anguilla to increase the island’s economic and fiscal stability.”

Minister of State Amanda Milling, said:

“I am very pleased that the UK is able to provide further help for the government of Anguilla. The UK is committed to supporting Anguilla, and this programme, along with the measures being implemented by the government of Anguilla, will support its economic resilience and recovery from the pandemic.”

Premier of Anguilla Dr Ellis L Webster, said:

“I would like to thank the Minister and the UK government for its continued support, which will help Anguilla to build a robust and viable economy. The government of Anguilla looks forward to working together with the UK to prioritise and agree the projects which will be funded over the next three years through the Economic Resilience Programme.”
