TAIWAN / St Vincent – August 15 marks the 40th anniversary of the official establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. To celebrate this important milestone, the two governments held various celebration activities and reiterated that they will continue to deepen as the two countries have cooperated extensively in key areas such as agriculture, education, infrastructure, public health and technology.
Foreign minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu said in a special congratulatory video that the friendship between Taiwan and the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has strengthened in friendship and exchanges between the countries over the past 40 years.
“The two countries have extensive cooperation in agriculture, public health, science and technology, education and infrastructure construction, which is the best testimony of the profound friendship between the two sides. With the eruption of the La Soufrière volcano this year, Taiwan has also firmly stood shoulder to shoulder with the holy nation to face the post-disaster challenges. I believe that through joint efforts in the future, the friendly relations between Taiwan and the Holy Land will continue to grow and grow”, said foreign minister Wu.

Moreover, minister Wu citing the Argyle International Airport and Rabacca Bridge projects inaugurated in 2007 and 2017, respectively, have greatly facilitated transportation in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The relationship between Taiwan and St Vincent and the Grenadines is a milestone of friendship, freedom and prosperity, further illustrated by TaiwanICDF Scholarships offered to 200-plus young Vincentians.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is an important friend of Taiwan in the Caribbean, supporting Taiwan’s participation in the global arena.
“A celebratory photo exhibition is ongoing at the embassy in Kingstown – St Vincent and the Grenadines including cooperation projects and reciprocal visits by political figures, as well as scholarships and talent exchange programs,” said MOFA. “In the face of the epidemic and the challenges of promoting economic recovery, Taiwan and St Vincent and the Grenadines will work together to deepen their partnership, work together to pursue regional peace and prosperity, and work together to create more for the people with ongoing collaboration, bilateral relations in the years to come”, added minister Wu.
