TAIPEI, Taiwan — Feature-length films, shorts and immersive installation pieces from Taiwan are set to showcase at the Neuchatel International Fantastic Film Festival in Switzerland from July 2 to 10, according to the ministry of culture.
A total of 16 productions from Taiwan, along with seminars introducing the country’s audiovisual art, are taking center stage at the 20th edition of the event as part of its Formosa Fantastica series, the ministry said.
NIFFF organizers praised Taiwan’s rising directors for their bold creation style, out-of-the-box thinking and wide range of subject matter, the MOC said, adding that the country’s advanced development in immersive digital artwork was also commended.
According to the MOC’s Taiwan Cultural Center in Paris, each year the festival highlights avant-garde cinematography, emerging elements in Asian film and integration of digital technologies such as virtual reality and extended reality into visual art.
Founded in 2000, the annual event held each July is the only film festival in Switzerland dedicated to fantasy and its related genres. This year’s selections will be screened both in person and online in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. (DL-E)
