RMA Companies Announces the Acquisition of Northwest Geotechnical Consultants

Acquisition expands RMA’s geographic footprint in the Pacific Northwest and TICC capabilities for critical infrastructure end-markets

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#constructionRMA Companies (“RMA”) today announced that it has acquired Northwest Geotechnical Consultants, Inc. dba Northwest Geotech (“NGI”), a provider of geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, construction inspection, and construction materials testing services. The acquisition of NGI is RMA’s third transaction since December 2021, as it executes an acquisition-driven growth strategy to build a national testing and inspection services platform for critical infrastructure end-markets. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Northwest Geotech has served private and public customers across several end-markets throughout the Pacific Northwest since 1983. NGI maintains one of the most comprehensive soil mechanics and construction materials testing laboratories in the Western United States. NGI is accredited to ISO/IEC standards by A2LA. It maintains validation by the US Army Corps of Engineers and laboratory certification by Oregon Department of Transportation for inspection and testing of various construction materials. In addition, NGI is a Special Inspection Agency with registration by the Oregon Building Officials Association and the Washington Association of Building Officials.

“Increasing investment in critical infrastructure will create a need for highly qualified, local experts to support the delivery of complex projects throughout the United States,” said Ed Lyon, RMA’s CEO. “Northwest Geotech has served municipalities, public agencies, asset owners, and contractors throughout the Pacific Northwest for nearly 40 years. I am delighted to welcome the NGI team to the RMA family. The acquisition enhances RMA’s portfolio of testing and inspection service capabilities through the addition of advanced soils mechanics lab capabilities and enables significant cross-sell opportunities across the combined customer base of RMA and NGI.”

“Northwest Geotech has developed a strong reputation for high-quality professional services since our founding in 1983,” said Tom Ginsbach, P.E., NGI’s President. “Joining the RMA family will enable continued high-quality services for our clients, as well as enhanced opportunities to collaborate with experts across a wide spectrum of engineering and materials science disciplines.”
