AUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–In honor of their 60th year, Houston-based Antone’s Famous Po’ Boys and Billy F. Gibbons donated proceeds from the Whisker Bomb Po’ Boy, which consisted of buttermilk-dipped fried green tomatoes, harissa, chipotle mayo, Billy F. Gibbons’ Whisker Bomb Have Mercy Sauce, goat cheese and arugula served on Po’ Boy bread at Antone’s full-service locations in Houston.
Proceeds from the sandwich were presented December 27th by Gibbons and Antone’s Famous Po’ Boy CEO Craig Lieberman to The Clifford Antone Foundation following Gibbons’ appearance at the Jungle Show at Antone’s Nightclub in Austin, Texas.
More than 1,200 Whisker Bomb Fried Green Tomato Po’ Boys were purchased which resulted in $11,118.00 to support the music community.
Gibbons, a Houston native, is no stranger to Antone’s brand. “Antone’s fame of presenting one of the greatest sandwich collections ever remains unchallenged. The attention to perfection in the world of po’ boys made the draw a natural for teaming up and bringing a new twist and tasty addition with Antone’s line of flavor sensations. Antone’s and Whisker Bomb pepper sauces are a delight,” said Gibbons.
“Our customers love Billy Gibbons. He was the perfect Texan to collaborate with us on our 60th anniversary sandwich. As a result, with his input, we were thrilled to support young and old musicians, many who struggled during Covid,” said Craig Lieberman.
Susan Antone, Co-Founder of the Foundation, commented, “We are grateful to Billy Gibbons and for the efforts of Antone’s Famous Po’ Boys for this wonderful collaboration and to support and preserve our music community. Being able to receive this at the Jungle Show was even more meaningful.”
