NextGen SKN labour day address and ‘March in you yard’

By Caribbean News Global contributor

BASSETERRE, St Kitts – Former prime minister and National Political Leader of the St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) Dr Denzil Douglas will deliver his 2020 official labour message to workers and the people of the twin-island Federation.

Dr Douglas’ address, the major event, will be delivered at 12:15 p.m. (today) on the St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) FaceBook page and will be carried simultaneously by Freedom (106.5) FM and Kyss (102.5) FM.

In the face of a 72-hour lockdown which began at 7 p.m. (local time) on Friday, May 1, 2020, and ends at 7 a.m. (local time) Tuesday, May 5, 2020, the St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party has organised several virtual events in keeping with its tradition over several decades.

In his address, the former prime minister will remember the hundreds of unemployed persons, on reduced working hours, and pay tribute to all workers and their families as well as healthcare personnel and others on the frontlines fighting the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to a spokesperson, Dr Douglas is expected to announce several measures that his incoming NextGen SKN Labour Party administration will introduce to put employees back to work and jump-start the post-COVID-19 St Kitts and Nevis economy.

The address will be followed by the “March wey you dey” or “March in you yard.”
