New Haitian ambassador to the OAS presents credentials

WASHINGTON, USA – The new permanent representative of Haiti to the Organization of American States (OAS), Jean Josué Pierre, presented his credentials today to Secretary General Albert R. Ramdin during a ceremony held at the Organization’s headquarters in Washington, DC.

During his presentation, ambassador Pierre said that “our commitment to the values on which this regional organisation is based—democracy, human rights, integral development, and multidimensional security—reflects the very challenges that my country is currently facing and must overcome.”

OAS Secretary General Albert R. Ramdin assured that:

“You will find in the General Secretariat a committed and solid partner, ready to work constructively, to listen with respect, and to translate dialogue into results, always in support of the Haitian people and their aspirations.” He emphasised that “you assume your responsibilities at a pivotal moment for your country and for the hemisphere.”

Ambassador Pierre is a career diplomat. He has served in countries including France and Switzerland, and held senior positions in his country’s ministry of foreign affairs.
