IDB Invest announces new investment management platform in Latin America, the Caribbean

LATIN AMERICA / THE CARIBBEAN – IDB Invest signed an agreement with Colabora Capital Partners (CCP) to create a new investment management platform focused on Latin America and the Caribbean.

IDB Invest and CCP aim to address the long-term capital needs in the region and grow the private capital markets. They will collaborate with institutional investors to design the platform, supporting sectors aligned with IDB Invest’s mission.

“We are excited to partner with Colabora Capital Partners on this investment management platform, leveraging their significant experience in building private capital businesses and collaborative investment platforms alongside development finance institutions and governments. This initiative addresses the growing demand for equity in Latin America and the Caribbean, aligns with the region’s Sustainable Development Goals, and supports IDB Invest’s priority sectors while advancing the objectives of the global investment community,” said Fabio Jose Fagundes, chief of financial products and services at IDB Invest.

CCP founder Colin Curvey, said: “We are delighted to be working with IDB Invest in this exciting and important initiative. The private capital markets are significantly underdeveloped in Latin America and the Caribbean at a time when the prospects for the region are strong and the need for capital is vast. With their relationships, experience, and unmatched presence across the region, IDB Invest is ideally placed to anchor a new investment platform that will bring global institutional investors closer to the exciting set of opportunities in the region.”

The platform is designed to catalyze the influx of private capital into Latin America and the Caribbean, bringing institutional investors closer to the vast, untapped opportunities in the region. By aligning with pension funds, sovereign funds, and development institutions, this platform will create a new wave of investment solutions, helping to bridge the funding gap for key sectors. IDB Invest is committed to playing a leading role in unlocking these opportunities and driving substantial capital flows to foster long-term growth and sustainable development across the region.

Through this initiative, IDB Invest reaffirms its commitment to working with all relevant stakeholders in the region to maximize the platform’s impact in contributing to the economic and social development of Latin America and the Caribbean.
