TAIWAN / USA, (CNA) – The Taiwan Expo USA, which showcases Taiwan’s technological strengths and rich culture, is set to take place October 12-14 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington DC, event organizers said Thursday.

This is the first time the Taiwan Expo event is being held in the United States where 83 Taiwanese companies will showcase their leading technologies, products and solutions, said James Huang (黃志芳), chairman of Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), which is hosting the event with the Bureau of Foreign Trade.

The exhibitors include Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Pegatron Corp., and Innolux Corp., Huang said at a news conference.

The three-day event features themes related to industries and policies to which the US government attaches great importance, such as the US$1.2 trillion Infrastructure Bill, the CHIPS and Science Act 2022 and the Inflation Reduction Act, according to Huang.

The exhibition is aimed at exploring business opportunities for Taiwanese companies in the US’ infrastructure projects, biomedical, semiconductor, electric vehicle and clean energy segments, Huang said.

During the event, a series of forums will be held, while former vice president Chen Chien-jen (陳建仁) and Wong Chi-huey (翁啟惠), the former president of Academia Sinica, Taiwan’s leading research institution, will deliver speeches, according to Huang.

The exhibition will include 10 themed pavilions covering products and services in several segments including 5G, smart city, smart vehicles, smart healthcare, aerospace technology, Taiwan culture and food, according to TAITRA.

The Taiwan culture pavilion will showcase Taiwan’s temple culture, according to the General Association of Chinese Culture, which will host the pavilion.
