ATLANTA, USA, (DELTA News Hub) — Delta is making it easier for customers to manage their travel from their own devices, even when plans change at the last minute.
Beginning August 4, customers who need to change their flight on the day of departure can now stand by for an earlier, alternative flight without paying a fee. The new flight must depart the same day, and standby requests or a confirmed change must be made within 24 hours of departure. Customers can make their same-day travel change directly within the Fly Delta app or delta.com.
“Flexibility has never been more important, which is why we want to give our customers more choice and control over their travel plans than ever before,” said Sandeep Dube, Delta’s S.V.P. – Pricing and Revenue Management. “By enabling same-day travel changes directly on the Fly Delta app, customers will also save valuable time rescheduling their plans while on the go, without waiting in line at the airport or calling Reservations.”
Delta is consistently delivering new ways for customers to feel confident when booking their trips, from eliminating most change fees to extending the validity of travel credits through the end of 2022. Recently, Delta enabled flexibility for Basic Economy customers to make changes to their upcoming 2021 travel.
Same-Day Travel Changes
To make a same-day trip change on the Fly Delta app, customers can navigate to “Same-Day Change” to browse alternate flights and select either a confirmed or standby option.
- If a seat is available in the originally purchased fare class, customers may only change their ticket to a confirmed seat on the new flight for a $75 fee.
- If a confirmed seat is unavailable, customers can stand by for an available seat for free. If a seat becomes available, they will not be charged a fee.
Same-day changes are available for all domestic tickets except Basic Economy. Confirmed same-day travel changes remain complimentary for SkyMiles Diamond, Platinum and Gold Medallion Members.
Digital tools to mange your travel
The Fly Delta app is the ultimate companion during travel, designed to provide a seamless experience with features like auto check-in, one-touch seat upgrades and real-time baggage tracking, in addition to allowing changes or cancellations prior to departure.
When customers are ready to rebook their travel, they can also redeem their eCredits directly on the app or delta.com.
