Belize welcomes new ambassadors from Taiwan and Honduras

BELMOPAN, Belize – Governor General Her Excellency Dame Froyla Tzalam on Monday received letters of credence of new ambassadors to Belize from the Republic of China (Taiwan) and Honduras.

Her Excellency Lily Li-Wen Hsu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of China (Taiwan)

The first to present credentials was Her Excellency Lily Li-Wen Hsu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of China (Taiwan). In her remarks, ambassador Hsu spoke of Belize and Taiwan’s shared values and ideals of freedom and democracy, and aspirations to “promote the well-being of all peoples and maintain world peace.” She pledged to continue to promote both countries’ mutual interests and strengthen the strong relationship of cooperation and goodwill.

His Excellency Nelson Merari Mejia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Honduras

His Excellency Nelson Merari Mejia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Honduras, also presented his letters of credence. The new ambassador conveyed his hope for continued friendship, peace, and harmony between Belize and Honduras.

The governor general welcomed the ambassadors, expressing her wishes for strengthened and continued cooperation with their respective governments. She also wished them success during their tenures in Belize.
