BELIZE, Belmopan – Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Belize received support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to bolster Belize’s central role of foreign policy implementation with a view to foster diplomatic representation and mobilize necessary resources towards a post-pandemic environment and development agenda.

This financial support emanated from the “Strengthening of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Central American Countries” that is provided through the XVII Meeting of the Mixed Commission of the Allied Countries of the Isthmus of Central America and Taiwan.

Eamon Courtenay, minister of foreign affairs, foreign trade, and immigration, received the funding from H.E. David Kuan-Chou Chien, ambassador of Taiwan to Belize, at the MFA’s headquarters in Belmopan.

Minister Courtenay expressed his sincere appreciation for Taiwan’s assistance on this institutional strengthening project and highlighted Taiwan’s commitment to multilateralism and proactive collaborations towards post-pandemic recovery.

Ambassador Chien reiterated Taiwan’s commitment to working with the MFA to efficiently carry out Belize’s foreign policy, while further reinforcing the mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries.
