BELMOPAN, Belize – The Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics, and E-Governance (MPUELE), alongside the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan), successfully launched the Bullet Tree Falls Digital Connect Center in Bullet Tree Falls Village, Cayo District under the National Digital Inclusion Programme.
The National Digital Inclusion Programme, which is guided by Belize’s National Digital Agenda 2022-2025 and executed by the e-governance and Digitalization Unit, is supported by the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) through the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF). The launch of the Bullet Tree Digital Connect Center represents a significant step towards promoting digital inclusion in rural communities.
The Bullet Tree Digital Connect Center is part of the ministry of public utilities, energy, logistics, and e-governance’s efforts to promote digital inclusion and bridge the digital divide in Belize. With the increasing importance of technology in our daily lives, access to reliable internet, information and communication devices and digital skills are now essential for our citizens to participate in the digital economy. As such, this center is one of a network of Digital Connect Centers that will be established countrywide to provide computer resources, and digital literacy and skills training to the residents of the community and surrounding areas.
The center will act as a community hub for access to government services, the Internet, and training. New Digital Connect Centers, with the support of ICDF, are scheduled to be launched in San Narciso Village, Santa Martha Village, Carmelita Village, and Belmopan.
Through this initiative, the ministry of public utilities, energy, logistics, and e-governance will continue its work in bridging the digital divide and creating public value.
