West Indies players Taylor and Allen making big moves

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – West Indies players have been making moves up the world rankings. Women’s team captain Stafanie Taylor and Men’s team allrounder Fabian Allen have been the biggest movers in the ICC players ladder.

Left-arm spinner Fabian Allen has stormed into the top 10 of the T20 International bowlers rankings, one of several West Indies players enjoying upward movement in the latest update announced by cricket’s world governing body.

He jumped 16 spots and now sits 10th in the bowling rankings which is topped by South Africa left-arm spinner Tabraiz Shamsi. Fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell has moved up two places to 22nd while our other left-arm seamer Obed McCoy jumped 15 spots to 38th.

On the women’s side, captain Taylor has reclaimed the top batting and all-rounder’s spots. She climbed four spots to displace India batter Mithali Raj from the summit of the batting charts and rose two places in the all-rounders’ charts to replace Australian Ellyse Perry at the top.

The Jamaican has been in a rich vein of form in the ongoing five-match CG Insurance series against Pakistan Women. She scored 105 not out in the opening game, powering her side to a five-wicket victory after they easily chased down 206 at Coolidge Cricket Ground. Taylor also took three wickets in an excellent all-round display which earned her CG Insurance Player-of-the-Match honours.
