US to host virtual SelectUSA Investment Summit, June 7-11

WASHINGTON, USA – US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo will host the 2021 SelectUSA Investment Summit, June 7-11, to be held virtually for the first time. She will be joined by several Cabinet members, governors, top chief executive officers and small business leaders seeking to attract global companies to invest in the US economy and workforce.

Secretary Raimondo serves as the 40th US Secretary of Commerce, recently sworn in by vice president Kamala Harris. As Secretary, Gina Raimondo’s mission is centered around the development of good-paying jobs, empowerment of entrepreneurial innovation and growth, and helping American workers and businesses compete.

“I am excited to host this year’s SelectUSA Investment Summit,” said Secretary Raimondo. “As the global economy continues to build back from the COVID-19 pandemic, investments here in America will help drive our economic recovery. We have the workforce, the resources, and the ideas to help businesses grow and compete – and I am looking forward to showcasing that alongside our great public and private sector leaders.”

The 2021 Investment Summit will feature programs focused on the US investment environment, industry trends, and new opportunities while concurrently promoting foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States. Additionally, the 2021 Investment Summit will introduce the Select Global Women in Tech Mentorship and Training Network, a global mentorship network supporting international female tech entrepreneurs interested in expanding their business to the US.

The SelectUSA Investment Summit is the highest-profile event dedicated to promoting foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States. Representatives from nearly all US states and territories and more than 60 international markets have already registered for this year’s event.

Since its inception, the SelectUSA Investment Summit has generated more than $48.4 billion in FDI, supporting more than 45,000 jobs.

Housed within the US Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration, SelectUSA promotes and facilitates business investment into the United States by coordinating related federal government agencies to serve as a single point of contact for investors.

SelectUSA assists US economic development organizations to compete globally for investment by providing information, a platform for international marketing, and high-level advocacy. SelectUSA also helps investors find the information they need to make decisions; connect to the right people at the local level; navigate the federal regulatory system; and find solutions to issues related to the federal government.
