Taiwan donates 15,000 COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test to Belize

BELIZE, Belmopan –  The ministry of health and wellness, yesterday received a donation of 15,000 COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test in a small ceremony hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

Dr Deysi Mendez, chief executive officer, received the donation on behalf of the ministry from H.E. Remus Li-Kuo Chen, ambassador of Taiwan to Belize. Dr Mendez expressed appreciation for the donation and the continued support shown to Belize by the government and people of the Republic of China (Taiwan), especially in the overall COVID-19 response.

The tests were co-developed by ForaCare, a Taiwanese company, and indicate that results can be determined in as little as 15 minutes. The total value of the donation is approximately BZ$300,000.

The donation will help to enhance the capacity of the laboratory and support in providing a timely response to affected persons.
