St Lucia police officer down in the peril of national security

By Caribbean News Global contributor

CASTRIES, St Lucia – Two off-duty police officers said to be providing escort services, late Saturday evening, March 5, 2022, based on initial reports, not yet officially confirmed by the Royal St Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), became the latest statistics of crime on the island in the peril of national security. Deceased is police constable 863 Nathan Timaitre. A service revolver is reportedly missing, while the second officer is nursing bullet wounds at hospital.

Amid this tragedy, prime minister Philip J. Pierre, close protection, security and residence has come under scrutiny by opposition forces with law enforcement training, currently performing the function of charlatan communication/journalist.

According to the RSLPF Facebook page: “Police Constable 863 Nathan Timaitre, was senselessly murdered last evening whilst performing off duty police-related duties. […]  Special police constable Isaac Calvin alias King was also seriously injured in the incident and we pray for his recovery.”

The latest crime episode on the island brings to bear the recurring issue of – off-duty – police escort duties that require urgent review.

Last week, Caribbean News Global (CNG) published the article, “St Lucia’s Gazetted police offices should be sent packing” also comes to light. The failures of the RSLPF is in full view – it is time to end this embarrassment.

St Lucia’s Gazetted police offices should be sent packing

Recently, eleven vehicles, personal hardware, etc, was made available to the RSLPF by the government of Saint Lucia. Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre has repeatedly addressed the ‘alarming’, crime wave and criminality accruing on the island stating:

“The police will be expected to do their duty in causing a reduction in crime. We will prioritize spending on law and order. Law enforcement agencies like the police will be resourced with modern tools for crime detection.”

Now that the charlatan communication/journalist and there operatives have published an overhead photo/drone footage/satellite image of the prime ministers’ personal residence, complete with illustrations, have actually re-drawn the boundaries, to the prime minister, personal security.

It is correct to note that the published overhead photo/drone footage/satellite image with illustrations by the said charlatan communication/journalist and well-known opposition operative reads: “The home of Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre is 186 metres, as the crow flies, from the location of the shooting and 250 metres via the road,” constitutes a lack of judgement and irresponsible behaviour, at the very least requires snooping on the motive.

October 30, 2020, the residence of Philip J. Pierre, then opposition leader was burglarised by two arm intruders.

Advisable, prime minister Pierre’s personal security detail should adapt and respond appropriately. And justifiable so, the RSLPF that are outgunned unfit for modern-day policing, law enforcement and futuristic systems, is barren to the peril of national security, in the national interest.

On the other hand, according to the RSLPF Facebook page: “The executive, colleagues at the Criminal Investigations Department, former colleagues and all members of the RSLPF, this will not break us! We are formidable and our resilience, though tested, will not waver. To those who thought this would divide us, think again.”
