Respected Healthcare Investor Alex Albert Takes Helm of Healthcare Private Equity Association as Chairperson

Amy Christensen, Vice Chairperson will partner with Albert to advance the mission of HCPEA and the important role of healthcare investing.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Alex Albert, Founding Partner of Patient Square Capital, has been appointed Chairperson of the Healthcare Private Equity Association (HCPEA), a nonprofit trade association focused on supporting the healthcare private equity community, officials announced today. Albert previously served as Vice Chairperson and succeeds prior Chairperson Paige Daly, Partner at Harvest Partners, effective July 1, 2022.

Since its founding in 2010, HCPEA remains the only private equity association dedicated to healthcare in the U.S. The association is driven by a mission to create a dedicated network that supports the needs, knowledge and relationships of those in healthcare private equity. Fresh off the heels of new branding that reflects the evolution of the association, HCPEA continues to expand its vibrant community of more than 1,000 investment professionals representing nearly 100 member firms across diverse forms of private investments in various stages of companies – all devoted to creating sustainable healthcare businesses in areas of significant impact such as health inequities, access, costs, and patient quality and outcomes.

“The need for innovation in healthcare has never been so great,” said Albert. “Over the next year, we will build on our significant momentum to increase HCPEA’s networking opportunities for investors at all career stages. Bringing individuals and investing firms together who share a similar passion to improve healthcare and facilitate enhanced partnerships, collaboration and best practices in the industry is a catalyst to foster the positive impact that private equity investments can have on patient lives.”

Albert is joined by Amy Christensen, Partner and Co-Head of Healthcare at The Vistria Group as HCPEA Vice Chairperson. Together, they will continue shaping the member experience. Priorities for the coming year include a continued focus on delivering high-quality, differentiated programming for all levels of healthcare PE professionals across the country, creating opportunities to build long-term relationships with peers, and growing the membership base to represent the diverse voices and perspectives of the healthcare investment community.

“Today’s healthcare private equity landscape is marked by greater subsector knowledge and focus, as well as deeper relationships and collaboration across the investment community,” said Christensen. “HCPEA has an impressive catalog of education topics and other industry resources such as those related to ESG and DE&I that are pertinent to healthcare investors. We are constantly developing new programming for members that is relevant to the ever-evolving industry and fosters growth, development and partnerships that yield good investments that facilitate greater access to higher quality healthcare.”

HCPEA enables private equity professionals to advance their knowledge and networks. The association serves as a convener of healthcare investors with the goal of unlocking the power of partnerships to advance healthcare.
