Oscar Mayer Invites You to Give Back Just by Firing Up Your Grill

Safely reconnect with neighbors on Saturday, May 2 for a Front Yard Cookout and help donate a meal to Feeding America

PITTSBURGH & CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The weather is warming up and grilling season is right around the corner. In times where everyone is practicing social distancing, neighbors are looking for ways to safely reconnect with each other and enjoy some of those summertime activities that bring us together, like cookouts and BBQs.

There’s a way we can do both. On Saturday, May 2, Oscar Mayer invites you to bring the backyard cookout to the front yard. Join us in the first-ever Front Yard Cookout, where our communities can be together, even when we’re apart.

As part of this, Oscar Mayer is donating 1 million meals to Feeding America. And you can join us in donating even more.

Here’s how you can get involved: Snap a photo of your socially distant cookout and share with us on Twitter. Each social share using the hashtag #FrontYardCookout donates one additional meal to Feeding America on top of Oscar Mayer’s 1 million meal commitment*. Hashtag submissions are open now through May 31, 2020.

Oscar Mayer has always been guided by a sense of optimism, and by bringing smiles to people at all times — especially in hard times,” said Jess Vultaggio, head of marketing, Oscar Mayer. “We’re proud to partner with Feeding America to give back to the community, and excited to give people the chance to help us in this effort.”

The brand has put together a few grilling guidelines to consider during your cookout:

  • Practice social distancing by always standing at least 12 hot dogs apart, the equivalent of 6 feet per CDC guidelines
  • Wash your hands with soap, and top your hot dogs with mustard — never the other way around
  • Thank the grill master with a thumbs-up instead of a high five

To help spread the word, Oscar Mayer created a 30-second ad that began airing last week as part of a national TV buy. You can also learn more about the Front Yard Cookout by visiting us at OscarMayer.com or on social media via Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

Mark your calendars and fire up your grill this Saturday to help donate a meal to Feeding America.
