OAS joins Concordia as 2021 annual summit patron programming partner

WASHINGTON, USA – The Organization of American States (OAS) is the main political forum in the region, bringing together all the independent nations of the Western Hemisphere to jointly promote democracy, strengthen human rights, promote peace, security, and cooperation and advance in achieving common interests. Since its origin, the OAS has had the main objective of preventing conflicts and providing political stability, social inclusion, and prosperity in the region through dialogue and collective actions such as cooperation and mediation.

The General Secretariat of the OAS (GS/OAS) today joins Concordia as a Patron Programming Partner for the 2021 Concordia Annual Summit. This partnership seeks to engage key stakeholders, subject-matter experts, and thought leaders to promote and grow OAS’s initiatives. Together, OAS and Concordia will co-develop programming and action-oriented conversations focused on initiatives that are particular to the Latin American and Caribbean region.

“We’re thrilled to welcome OAS to our community this year. In line with our Democracy, Security & Geopolitical Risk programming theme, we’ll explore what’s needed to achieve peace & justice in the Americas,” said Matthew Swift, Concordia’s co-founder and chief executive officer. “We’ll also be making an exciting announcement with OAS at this year’s Annual Summit.”

“We are honored to partner with Concordia during this year’s Annual Summit. We look forward to constructive dialogue and engagement with members of the Concordia community,” said Luis Almagro, Secretary-General of the OAS. “We strongly believe partnerships and communication across sectors is necessary to deal with the pressing multidimensional challenges facing the Americas, and to set an example of impact-driven cooperation in the time of COVID-19 and beyond.”

In accordance with Concordia’s Democracy, Security & Geopolitical Risk programming theme for the 2021 Annual Summit, this programming partnership seeks to engage key stakeholders and thought leaders to bring actionable programming and expert voices to the hemisphere that result in the creation of solutions and globally-impacting initiatives.
