OAS-Chile partnership program announces full scholarships for hospitality staff in CARICOM Countries

WASHINGTON, USA – The Organization of American States (OAS), in partnership with the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) announces a scholarship opportunity for citizens and permanent residents of the CARICOM Countries of the OAS to participate in an Online Guest Service Gold Tourism Course.

Through a consistent guest service language and platform, the course addresses the guest service needs of tourism businesses, focusing on the ability to attract and keep visitors based on business’ reputation. The course is offered by the AHLEI and seeks to prepare participants for the Certified Guest Service Professional (CGSP®) exam, the highest acknowledgement of guest service excellence for hospitality and tourism employees.

The OAS executive secretary for integral development, Kim Osborne, explained that “through the Scholarship and Training Project, the OAS and the Government of Chile support the strengthening of CARICOM’s capabilities in the areas of disaster risk management, climate resilience, and sustainability; this scholarship offer is another element of such partnership. We need to continue creating training and growth opportunities for the tourism and hospitality sectors as they have been significantly impacted by the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

This scholarship will cover 100 percent of the cost of course fees, learning materials, and the certification exam. Interested persons should apply online, through the OAS, by October 25, 2020. The course will be offered in English and is set to begin on November 16, 2020.

More information about the OAS scholarships is available here.
