Kevin Kroeker Named General Counsel of SCAN

LONG BEACH, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–SCAN Group, whose holdings include SCAN Health Plan, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plans, announced that Kevin B. Kroeker has joined the organization as its new general counsel. In this role, Kroeker will lead SCAN’s legal, compliance and enterprise risk management functions as the organization expands geographically, grows its portfolio of care offerings and brings new innovations to the senior care market.

Kroeker has 35 years of experience advising healthcare organizations on state and federal regulatory issues. He has assisted clients in multi-billion dollar transactions and many other significant deals throughout his career.

Kroeker joins SCAN’s officer team from Crowell & Moring’s Los Angeles office, where he was a partner and former co-chair of the firm’s Health Care Group, of which SCAN is a client. He joined Crowell in 2012 and helped build the firm’s California national health care practice into a preeminent practice. Kroeker also served as SCAN’s interim general counsel in 2014.

“Kevin is the perfect person to lead SCAN’s Legal Affairs team during this period of diversification and expansion,” said Dr. Sachin H. Jain, president and CEO of SCAN Group and SCAN Health Plan. “Not only is he intimately familiar with SCAN’s operations, but he has a proven track record supporting business growth, advising boards and facilitating the execution of long-term strategies. His hire continues SCAN’s recent success in bringing in high caliber candidates who are inspired by SCAN’s mission.”

“I’m excited to join SCAN during this period of transformation and growth,” said Kroeker. “After a career representing health care organizations in their efforts to improve quality and access to care, this opportunity to work on the ground level with SCAN in keeping seniors healthy and independent is truly inspiring. As SCAN expands and diversifies, I look forward to playing a direct role in helping it extend its decades of experience addressing the unique health needs of older adults to new and more diverse communities.”

Kroeker succeeds Janet Kornblatt, who will remain with SCAN through the end of the year to assist with Kroeker’s transition and support the organization.

“We are grateful to Janet Kornblatt for her steady and capable leadership at SCAN over the last seven years,” said Dr. Jain. “During her tenure, Janet consistently demonstrated integrity, sound judgement and a commitment to the older adults we serve.”
