GrammaTech Acquires JuliaSoft to Expand Reach of CodeSonar® SAST Platform to Java and C#

New Language Support Extends Automated Detection of Software Vulnerabilities to Enterprise Use Cases where Safety and Security are Indispensable

BETHESDA, Md.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#AppSecGrammaTech, a leading provider of software application security testing solutions, today announced that it has acquired the intellectual property and assets of JuliaSoft S.r.l. to extend its CodeSonar® Static Application Security Testing (SAST) platform with automated code analysis for Java and C# code.

To provide customers with an integrated solution for reliably detecting security vulnerabilities and other defects in their embedded applications, the Julia Static Analyzer will be unified into the CodeSonar® platform. This will enable developers to perform static analysis of C, C++, Java and C# code and develop secure applications faster.

In a recent report, “Gartner has observed the major driver in the evolution of the AST [Application Security Testing] market is the need to support enterprise DevOps initiatives. Customers require offerings that provide high-assurance, high-value findings while not unnecessarily slowing down development efforts. Clients expect offerings to fit earlier in the development process, with testing often driven by developers rather than security specialists.”

“GrammaTech is used by some of the world’s most security conscious organizations including the US military, NASA as well as automotive, aerospace, industrial and medical device manufacturers to secure their applications from defects and security vulnerabilities,” said Vince Arneja, Chief Product Officer at GrammaTech. “The Julia products will immediately extend CodeSonar’s market reach and differentiation by further expanding its depth and breadth whether the use case is achieving code checking, code quality, code security or adhering to coding standards.”

1 Gartner, “Magic Quadrant for Application Security,” by Mark Horvath, Dionisio Zumerle and Dale Gardner, 29 April 2020.

The CodeSonar® platform supports both Desktop and DevSecOps workflows to allow software teams to choose how they introduce and apply static analysis in their projects. It also provides enterprise features including reliable tracking of defects independent of code changes, extensive code visualization capabilities, and supports popular IDEs, command-line and web interfaces.
