Antigua – Barbuda launches ‘Your Own Space’ summer staycation campaign

ST JOHNS, Antigua –  This summer, Antigua and Barbuda’s fresh, new tourism campaign ‘Your Own Space’ highlights Antigua and Barbuda’s enticing tourism offerings and encourages persons living in Antigua and Barbuda to spend their summer vacation at home, enjoying their own space in the sun.

The ‘Your Own Space’ Campaign launches on July 31 and will presently run until September 30, 2020

Launched by the ministry of tourism, The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority and the Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association, the domestic campaign builds on Antigua and Barbuda’s current global marketing campaign ‘Your Space in the Sun’, which positions Antigua and Barbuda with its wide-open spaces as the perfect place to escape to, in the new normal created in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ‘Your Own Space’ campaign speaks specifically to residents of Antigua and Barbuda who because of the pandemic, would have placed their regional and international holidays on hold.

With over 15 one-of-a-kind exciting land and sea excursions, eight culinary experiences and fifteen luxurious and intimate accommodation options available at great value pricing as part of the ‘Your Own Space’ staycation campaign, Antigua and Barbuda is the ideal summer escape for those who call the twin-island paradise, home.

The compelling offers have been categorised under headings: Roam Free, Open for Dining, and The Escape You Deserve. Offers can be viewed on www.visitantiguabarbuda.com/staycations and will be shared via the social media pages for the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority and the Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association using the hashtag #YourOwnSpace and #MySpaceInTheSun.

Speaking about the campaign, minister of tourism, Charles Fernandez said, “We know that summer is a period when lots of us travel abroad, however, travel restrictions may have delayed summer travel.  We are saying to everyone living in Antigua and Barbuda, while the trip abroad may be postponed, don’t cancel summer. Let’s enjoy our 365 beaches, our amazing cuisine and outdoor adventures with friends and family.”

“We have a phenomenal tourism product, and working together with our tourism partners, we are excited to showcase our offerings and new experiences at unmatched rates exclusively for residents.”

The minister said he could guarantee that residents of Antigua and Barbuda would enjoy their staycation in ‘space’. He also noted that with all participating tourism businesses certified by the Ministry of Tourism, and health and safety protocols in place, residents are provided with the additional peace of mind of knowing that they will be safe.

By taking a staycation, residents will show their support for the local tourism businesses and their staff that would have been severely affected by the pandemic. Certified tourism businesses wanting their staycation offerings to be featured on  www.visitantiguabarbuda.com can complete the online registration form found on the Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association website.

Residents can engage with the ‘Your Own Space’ tourism campaign by sharing images of themselves finding their space in the sun, to their Facebook and Instagram social media pages using the hashtag #MySpaceInTheSun and tagging the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority and the Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association.
