Buffalo CBP officers seize cocaine and stolen weapon at the Peace Bridge

BUFFALO, New York –  US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Peace Bridge seized approximately 11.2 grams of cocaine and a loaded Glock .45 that was determined to be stolen.

On August 22, CBP officers encountered a vehicle containing four Canadian citizens in their 20’s who claimed to have made a wrong turn onto the Peace Bridge and with no intention of entering the United States. Subsequently, the vehicle and occupants were referred for a secondary inspection. During the course of the inspection, a loaded Glock .45 was discovered in a bag behind the front passenger’s seat. CBP officers then determined that the firearm had been reported stolen and confirmed through a National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database search of the firearms’ serial number. Additionally, a 26-year-old Canadian citizen was found to be in possession of 10 clear baggies of cocaine that weighed approximately 11.2 grams.

“This latest seizure is just another example of the outstanding work our frontline officers continue to do,” said Port Director Jennifer De La O. “They took the extra steps which led to the successful results of discovering narcotics and a stolen firearm. Their remarkable efforts have once again proven their commitment to keeping the communities we live in safe.”

After CBP processing, the narcotics, firearm and all four subjects were turned over to the City of Buffalo Police Department for felony weapon and narcotics charges.
