St Lucia to host CARICOM heads of government meeting in July

 GEORGETOWN, Guyana – The 51st regular meeting of the conference of heads of government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will be convened in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia, from 5-8 July 2026, under the chairmanship of Philip J. Pierre, prime minister of Saint Lucia, who will assume duties as chair on 1 July.

The opening ceremony, scheduled for 5 July at 4.00 pm ECT, will feature remarks by the CARICOM chair; outgoing CARICOM chair, Dr Terrance Drew, prime minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis; and CARICOM secretary-general, Dr Carla Barnett.

The ceremony will take place at Sandals Saint Lucia and will be streamed live on CARICOM’s social media platforms.

From 6-8 July, heads of government will participate in business sessions and deliberate issues critical to the region’s agenda.

  • The closing press conference will be held on 8 July 2026.
  • A knowledge hub featuring key information about the regular meeting will also be launched by Wednesday 10 June.
  • 19th CARICOM Road Run/Walk

Prior to the opening of the meeting on 5 July, amateur and professional athletes will gather in Saint Lucia for the 19 CARICOM Road Run/Walk. This health and wellness activity involving professional and amateur athletes in the region, helps to underscore the positive influence of sport and physical education on quality of life.
