OAS Electoral Observation Mission in Ecuador

– The results therefore indicate that there will be a second round of voting, scheduled for April 13.

WASHINGTON, USA – The Electoral Observation Mission of the Organization of American States (OAS) informs citizens that the results presented by the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Ecuador coincide with the data obtained through the quick count conducted by the Mission, and remain within the margin of error. The results therefore indicate that there will be a second round of voting.

The Mission notes that the official results are those issued by the CNE, since OAS Missions neither substitute for national electoral authorities nor interfere in their functions.

The Mission, so far, has neither identified nor received any indication of widespread irregularities that could alter the election results. At the same time, it requests that any complaint be presented to the competent authorities.

Looking ahead to the second round, scheduled for April 13, the Mission will continue to observe the electoral process in an impartial manner and in accordance with democratic principles.
