Leelyn Smith & Grebe Announce Merger

GENEVA, Ill.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Leelyn Smith Tax, LLC (“Leelyn Smith”), a tax and wealth advisory firm headquartered in Geneva, Illinois, today announced its merger with Grebe & Associates, P.C. (“Grebe”), an accounting services firm headquartered in Wheaton, Illinois. The combined firms will do business as Leelyn Smith.

Eight employees join Leelyn Smith from Grebe. In addition, the firm adds an office in Wheaton to Leelyn Smith’s footprint in the western suburbs of Chicago.

Grebe specializes in tax preparation for individuals with unique financial circumstances as well as accounting, advisory, and consulting services for businesses. The roots of the firm trace back to 1991, when John Grebe, CPA®, took over an accounting firm that was renamed Grebe & Associates in 1998.

“Family has always been extremely important to Leelyn Smith,” said Drew Grider, CFA®, President of Leelyn Smith. “We have always strived to treat our clients and our colleagues as family and believe Grebe shares the same priorities. That is what makes us so excited about the growth of our firm and the positive changes this merger will bring to our extended client family.”

“Very early in our discussions, I knew we were aligned with Leelyn Smith in all the right areas,” said John Grebe, CPA®, President of Grebe. “From the way they build relationships with their clients to the depth of their tax advisory expertise to the close-knit culture among their team, our combined firms will be a great new home for clients.”

Grebe’s tax and consulting services will serve as both a complement to Leelyn Smith’s holistic wealth management, tax, and family office practices and a source of additional capabilities for the combined firm.

“Grebe brings accounting expertise that will benefit our entire client base, especially business owners and families with complex accounting and tax needs,” said Zach Gordon, CPA®, Director of Tax Services at Leelyn Smith.

The combined resources and expertise of Leelyn Smith and Grebe will create an expanded suite of financial services offerings and even more seamless advice for clients. Bringing the two firms together also expands the products, services, and personalized advice available to individuals, families, and business owners while leveraging technology and a commitment to high-touch client service to seek successful client outcomes.
