GDF delegation visits CARICOM Secretariat

GEORGETOWN, Guyana – On 4 June, the CARICOM Secretariat welcomed a delegation from the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Senior Command and Staff Course Number 20 (SCSC #20).

The visit featured a special knowledge-sharing session with officials from the Secretariat’s Crime and Security Programme. The GDF officers participated in an interactive exchange on the Community’s role in advancing regional security initiatives, led by Sherwin Stephenson, programme manager, crime and security, and Mareesha Stephens, project officer, crime and security.

The discussions provided valuable insight into how CARICOM utilises functional cooperation to address current and emerging crime and security challenges.

As part of their visit, the delegation participated in a guided tour of the Secretariat, gaining unique insights into its role and functions.

The visit underscored the Secretariat’s ongoing collaboration with regional defence and security stakeholders, reinforcing CARICOM’s commitment to strengthening collective approaches to crime and security.
