Fort Lauderdale: AHF & Broward House to Open New Food Pantry

AHF’s Food For Health Program in partnership with Broward House are set to open a new food pantry in the Fort Lauderdale area

Food Pantry Opening, Saturday, October 1st, 2022 – 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the largest, non-profit global AIDS organization, in partnership with Broward House is pleased to announce that on Saturday, October 1st, 2022, the opening of a new site for its Food For Health Program in the city of Fort Lauderdale. The farmer’s market will be receiving its goods and fresh produce from local farmers within the area. This opening comes at a time where many residents and community members are in need of food and resources due to the recent devastation the city and the state of Florida is currently experiencing from the historic natural disaster Hurricane Ian.

“Individuals within our communities need access to nutritious and fresh fruits and vegetables,” said Carlos Marroquin, National Director, Food For Health Program, AHF. “AHF’s Food For Health program was designed with this mission in mind. To live healthy lives, you need access to healthy food options. That is why the opening of this free farmer’s market is so important. Additionally, with the recent devastation from Hurricane Ian, this resource is even more crucial.”

Joining forces with AHF is going to provide so many opportunities for those who are need.”

AHF also recently served as first responders in the wake of Hurricane Fiona for Puerto Rico by chartering planes to San Juan at 4:00 am Wednesday morning (9/21) to provide much needed resources for the area. AHF’s quick action delivered emergency supplies including generators, water purification kits, and tents to patients in need.
