ECCO announces Martin James as new CEO

CASTRIES, St Lucia, (ECCO News) – The Eastern Caribbean Collective Organisation for Music Rights (ECCO) Inc., announced last Friday, the appointment of Martin Alson James, effective May 8, 2023, as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

James brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success. His extensive knowledge and experience in intellectual property administration is an ideal fit for the CEO position at ECCO.

“James is a highly experienced and innovative transformational leader in the creative industries and brings with him over three decades of leadership experience,” said ECCO press release on Friday. “James served on ECCO’s board of directors for several years, holding the position of chairman from 2018 to 2019. During his tenure, he played a critical role in shaping the copyright landscape of the music industries in the OECS.”

In the role of CEO, James is committed to preserving ECCO’s legacy of professionalism, quality representation, and innovation.

“He believes that a blend of traditional and cutting-edge techniques can accomplish ECCO’s goals in today’s modern society,” adding to his responsibilities for guiding and bolstering ECCO’s position on the global collective management market, expanding its portfolio and enhancing its digital capabilities to meet the evolving needs of its members and stakeholders.”

With James as CEO, his extensive experience and exceptional leadership qualities extend the “legislative reform and harmonization of policies across all ECCO’s territories, educating and re-educating of all parties/stakeholders.”

Leading ECCO into the future, CEO James expects to “increase licencing, revenue collection and distribution is top of his agenda to be tackled expeditiously.”

James expressed enthusiasm about leading ECCO, stating:

“I am excited to join the ECCO’s team as the new CEO,” adding. “I am committed to building on the company’s success and taking it to even greater heights. I look forward to working with the team to achieve our goals and enhance the value we bring to our members and stakeholders.”

James’ strong work ethic, integrity, and dedication to excellence make him a great fit as CEO of ECCO, says the regional organisation, reflecting its regional make-up of Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, British Virgin Isles, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines.

James will successfully lead ECCO into its next phase of growth, protecting music rights, securing the best possible business performance, and creating value for customers.

ECCO’s press release reiterated that:
