WASHINGTON, USA – The Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic, Josué Fiallo, on Friday, assumed the chair of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) of the Organization of American States (OAS), during a ceremony held at the headquarters of the hemispheric institution in Washington, DC.

Ambassador Fiallo highlighted CIDI’s work agenda to protect the hemisphere’s natural resources and help the region move towards sustainable development.

“Our work agenda will reflect the continuous efforts to address current and future challenges, promoting comprehensive and sustainable development in the Americas. From the Dominican Republic we reaffirm our commitment to support all the efforts of the OAS to promote a prosperous and sustainable future for all the countries of the Americas,” said the Dominican diplomat.

For his part, the Permanent Representative of Peru and outgoing chair of CIDI, Gustavo Adrianzén, thanked the OAS secretary-general and all the member states for supporting the work of the Council.

“During our Presidency of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development, we have fully complied with the objectives that we have set for ourselves, and we have put the important issue of climate change up for debate,” added ambassador Adrianzén.
