A Fair and Square Win! MCR Purchases the Hilton Garden Inn Louisville Mall of St. Matthews in Derby City

And they’re off! The nation’s 4th-largest hotel owner-operator acquires the Hilton Garden Inn Louisville Mall of St. Matthews just a trot from the Kentucky Derby.

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–MCR takes the lead! The country’s 4th-largest hotel owner-operator has acquired the 150-room Hilton Garden Inn Louisville Mall of St. Matthews in the heart of Kentucky.

The hotel is 10 minutes from Louisville International Airport and 15 minutes to downtown Louisville. But the real attraction is just a short drive away at the legendary Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby, the first race in the coveted thoroughbred Triple Crown.

While the world waits with unbridled enthusiasm to find out whether this year’s winning colt, Medina Spirit, will keep his title, there’s plenty of action in town for hot-to-trot fans. Summer racing continues through Fourth of July weekend and a special Bourbon Heritage Month meet is scheduled in September. Fall racing runs from October until Thanksgiving weekend.

When it comes to Louisville lodging, back the right horse! The newly built Hilton Garden Inn features sleek furnishings, an indoor pool and a spacious lobby. Breakfast and a seasonal menu of favorites (flatbreads! burgers!) are cooked to order at the Garden Grille & Bar.

Ready to stirrup some trouble? Hoof it over to the full bar for craft brews, local bourbon or a mean mint julep. After a long day at the track, kick back at our outdoor firepit. Or work off those slices of Derby Pie at the 24-hour fitness center, where you’ll have free rein to train (beware of charley horses!).

If you’re in the market for a big ole hat, the Mall St. Matthews boasts more than one million square feet of stores and restaurants — and it’s just outside the hotel’s front door!

Pick up some sustenance at our 24-hour market, then head for downtown. Hit the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory (don’t leave without a customized bat), then mosey over to Whiskey Row, a one-block stretch of distilleries, shops and bars, to take the Urban Bourbon Trail. All stops have at least 60 different types of bourbon behind the bar. Before heading home to the Hilton Garden Inn Mall of St. Matthews, wash down a Hot Brown — an open-faced sandwich with turkey, bacon and Mornay sauce — with an old fashioned.

The Hilton Garden Inn Louisville Mall of St. Matthews is located at 400 Sherburn Lane and features:

  • 150 rooms with mini fridges, microwaves and HDTVs
  • The Garden Grille & Bar, an onsite restaurant that serves breakfast, dinner and cocktails
  • Room service
  • A 24-hour sundry and convenience store
  • A 24-hour fitness center
  • A heated indoor pool
  • A business center
  • Complimentary parking
  • 2,000 square feet of event space across two meeting rooms
