St Lucia’s prime minister to table appropriations bill 2022/23, amid ‘rising uncertainties’

CASTRIES, St Lucia –  Prime minister and minister for finance, economic development, and the youth economy, Philip J. Pierre will table the Appropriations Bill 2022/23 in the House of Assembly on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, amid rising uncertainties.

Notable, this is prime minister Pierre’s inaugural budget address, that affords him the occasion to sum-up nine months [to date] since the general elections of July 26, 2021, to deliver on his promises to the people of Saint Lucia.

The highly anticipated budget address will commence at 5:00 pm and transmit via the National Television Network (NTN) and the government of Saint Lucia social media pages.

The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), said Friday:

“ The debate on the Appropriations Bill will begin on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 10:00 am.” And per norms and procedure: “The leader of the opposition is expected to open the day’s debate and will also be allowed the latitude of time to respond to the prime minister’s address.”

The debate on the Appropriations Bill is expected to run until Friday, April 29, 2022, according to OPM, noting that during the three-days proceedings the “government will detail its plans to transform the economy and empower its citizens during these volatile economic times,” said the OPM.
