St Lucia minister urges NTRC ‘to bring closure to … SKY FM’

By Caribbean News Global contributor

CASTRIES, St Lucia – In furtherance of the announcement of a new board of directors to govern the National Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (NTRC) for three years, senior minister with responsibility for telecommunications, Stephenson King, on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, “met with members of the newly constituted National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC) under the chairmanship of Mary Polius,” the ministry announced Friday.

“The senior minister in delivering his brief remarks urged members of the new commission to be very vigilant in the exercise of their duties during their term in office,” urged commissioners to exercise those responsibilities “without fear or favour” noting that “no one entity will be permitted to stand in the way of upholding the law.”

Caribbean News Global (CNG) previously stated that “attention of the public and the NTRC board will come under scrutiny concerning the “ Termination of the use of Spectrum Kairi FM Saint Lucia.

Relative to the senior minister meeting the NTRC and the press release Friday, February 18, 2022, that “urges vigilance and objectivity in exercise of their duties” the obvious is relevant.

In accordance with this, “the senior minister also exhorted members of the NTRC to work expeditiously to bring closure to the matter regarding the operations of SKY FM,” said the ministry in a press release.
