CASTRIES, St Lucia – The parishioners of Holy Trinity Anglican Church at Castries and Saint Mary the Virgin at LaCaye, Dennery, celebrate the upcoming Seventh Sunday after the Epiphany with a difference.
The Church service will be dedicated to the Banana Festival as part of the commemoration of the 43rd Independence Celebration and the Independence Calendar of events, February 20 – 22, 2022. The event is fully supported by the Independence Celebration Committee.
A friend and Saint Lucian, Armstrong Alexis and recently appointed Deputy Secretary-General of CARICOM has high praise for the event and has commended the Management Committee comprising of Chairman Archdeacon Glasgow, David Jordan FRIEETAD in the OECS Inc., and Cecil Charles.
Alexis says: “Well done on your independence event and I have coined it for you as FIG, FAITH and Fulfillment of the Father’s Plan.”
Chef Orlando Satchell world-renowned Chef has not only embraced this event wholeheartedly but he has offered to conduct the cooking demonstrations on Sunday morning from 10.00 am following the church service.
Massy and the Saint Lucia Marketing Board (SLMB ) have partnered with the Holy Trinity Anglican church and made available the ingredients for the cooking demonstrations and display for the scheduled cooking sessions on Sunday 10:00 -12: 30 and on Tuesday 11:30 – 01:30.
The Banana Festival will stage an Exhibition for three days and will feature bi-products produced by local Manufactures as well as Cottage industries. The event will feature Banana Ketchup, Chips, Paper, Soap, Wines, etc., at the recently renovated Anglican School Annex.
The event is open Sunday, February, 20 till Tuesday, February, 22 9:00 till 5:00 pm each day.
