OAS – EOM makes preliminary visit to Peru

WASHINGTON, USA  – The Electoral Observation Mission of the Organization of American States (OAS) is making a second preliminary visit to Peru this week, ahead of the April 11 general elections.

The Mission, headed by the economist, diplomat and former foreign minister of Paraguay Rubén Darío Ramírez Lezcano, will hold meetings with governmental and electoral authorities, as well as candidates and representatives of the various political parties.

During the preliminary visit, the members of the Mission will gather information related to substantive aspects of the electoral process such as electoral organization, logistics, technology and justice, and will continue dialogue with the various political actors begun in the framework of the first preliminary visit held in November 2020.

In the days before the elections, the Mission will return to Peru to continue with the tasks of observation, in which experts and observers of various nationalities will participate.
