CBP officers intercept methamphetamine worth over $2.8 million at the World Trade Bridge

TEXAS, USA — US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers at the World Trade Bridge seized methamphetamine with a street value of over $2.8 million in one enforcement action.

“Methamphetamine has an appalling impact on individuals, families and our communities,” said acting port director Eugene Crawford, Laredo Port of Entry. “CBP is dedicated to disrupting the flow of this deadly narcotic through sustained and target-driven enforcement operations.”

The enforcement action occurred on Friday, January 15 at the World Trade Bridge when CBP officers assigned to the cargo facility encountered a tractor hauling a shipment of stone handcrafts arriving from Mexico. The 2001 Volvo tractor and its shipment were referred for a canine and non-intrusive imaging system inspection, resulting in the discovery of 24 packages containing 140.56 pounds of alleged methamphetamine within the trailer.

The narcotics have an estimated street value of $2,811,305.

CBP officers seized the trailer and narcotics. The case was turned over to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
