Chastanet’s ‘Caring in Action’ laments early election in St Lucia

By Special contributor

Political Leader of the United Workers Party (UWP), Allen Chastanet, in a statement Monday evening, did little to help himself and his UWP- political club. In an attempt to lay the basis for ‘Caring in Action’ – Chastanet’s interpretation of what the Bible tells us in James 2:18 – about genuine faith, and his struggle to understand the fact that Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre called an early election, laments incessantly, WHY?

In short, St James goes by many titles, such as ‘St James the Great’ was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us that he was a fisherman-turned fisher of men. James 2:18 commemorates – Faith is the root, good works are the fruits; and we must see to it that we have both. Faith produces works. Faith with no demonstrable action is not real. Faith is more than an academic exercise. True faith means our hearts have been changed, and a changed heart is demonstrated through action. It rests in God’s promises and provisions.

Chastanet’s analogy does not come close, and on the contrary, what is he really trying to convey, stating, “show me your faith by your works,” in the political tenet. His schematics to lament the WHY factors for the early election, also tie up to the folic at the heart of misleading the Saint Lucian people.

As you would have thought, he does not know what to do, how to deal with the issues, and now finds himself in a box.

The political doctrine emphasises that, “No political leader calls a general election without empirical evidence that he has the advantage with a political machinery that is well-oiled and ready to go!

Chastanet, in 2021, misread the economic and political directorate sufficiently to be narrowly voted onto the opposition benches. He believed in himself, his works, and having faith in his inner circle of misfits.

In 2025, Chastanet, having not learned much, believes the ‘Caring in Action’ with leftover actors and armchair bandits acting as originals, expects a windfall at the polls.

This is another mistaken belief!

Chastanet’s lamentations of the WHY factor for the early general elections are pregnant with after four years:

  • National debt is the highest in our history:
  • Billions should have come in from CIP funds, have vanished; and the long overdue report that should tell us where it all went, still missing;.
  • Farmers are being left behind;
  • Youth programmes are being cancelled while ministers grow richer and richer;
  • Vendors and our women are abused;
  • Ministers accused of serious crimes remain untouched;
  • In 2025, why does a loaf of bread cost double the amount to 2016;
  • The prices of groceries are sky-high, yet the added new 2.5% of Levy;
  • Security has disappeared;
  • Hospitals are consistently without panadol, without bedsheets, without nurses, and without doctors.

What happened to the country pre-2021 should not be mistaken, but pragmatic in CNG’s editorial, “Arrogance, ignorance and hypocrisy confront governance in St Lucia,” June 21, 2020.

The hardball of Chastanet is a strange philosophy of forgetfulness of “Dead Faith” (James 2:17). In verses 14 through 17, James gave a very specific teaching that so-called – “faith” which does not result in good works is just that: phony.

Chastanet’s ‘Caring in Action,’ and the sophistry of pitifulness, with the lamentations of WHY? are phony!

The total effect of this is cumulative to being in government (2016 ) and opposition since (2021): an aide-mémoire of “Chastanet’s emerging format of narrow-minded nationalism that claims ‘government is a business,’ ‘patrimony is the credit rating,’ and “the world is a selfish place.

As luck would have it, the lamentations of WHY to an early election are symptomatic of the affirmation of progress and movingForward Together,” – “Caring in DoingBetter” – post UWP administration 2021.

Chastanet’s real concerns and “Faith” as demonstrated through action and not just belief, and as James said, “show me your faith by your works,” are not found in his record in government.

Fundamentally, Chastanet’s WHY factors and the UWP’s “government is a business,” contracted Saint Lucia beyond the affordability of the 90K working population. Manifestly, that cannot work out! Then, the UWP administration gambled and, stupidly, “ Dead Faith” in FDIs could not live up to speculative adaptations of outlooks. Naturally, the economy slumped into sluggishness.

Happening now, a recovery is at hand! But Chastanet, while the promise of artificial intelligence, is himself remote to learning, that Saint Lucians have changed for progress and development four years ago.

At this time, the questions, lamentations, and answers are self-inflicted contradictions on Chastanet’s UWP.

The assignment in this early election is the results to which the people and – “a leader with vision, courage, and a plan to build a better future for all,” is actively on course.

As a result, two constants are current. The politics and the exegesis of biblical texts, sandwiched in Chastanet’s “continued misunderstandings.“

That’s why understanding factors and the right to request a leadership debate is a hoax, predicated on scrappy marketing creatives.

From a definite, the sorority of Chastanet’s ‘Caring in Action” and lamenting WHY factors for the early general elections – Chastanet needs both Bible study and political evolution.
