Caribbean SIDS to convene in Grenada

ST GEORGE’S, Grenada – High-level officials and technical experts from Caribbean Small Island Developing States (SIDS) will convene in Grenada on July 9 and 10, 2025 for a critical two-day workshop to address one of the region’s most pressing issues: strengthening water resources management to improve water security in the face of climate change.

With a key focus on sharing national water challenges and successful solutions, the workshop will spotlight how improved water governance, freshwater ecosystem health, and the uptake of nature-based solutions can support water and climate resilience across the region.

Through these exchanges, participants will aim to drive political commitment and advance investment strategies that support governance reform and nature-positive infrastructure.

This two-day workshop titled, “Leveraging SDG 6 for Accelerated Water Investments in Caribbean SIDS,” is a collaborative undertaking between the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), implemented by the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C), with support from the Grenada Climate Resilient Water Sector (G-CREWS) Project.

This workshop will support participating SIDS, to strengthen their capacity in Integrated Water Resources Management and promote actions that enhance coordination and governance for water security; protect and restore freshwater ecosystems; and prioritize investments in nature-based solutions to address pollution, water security, and climate impacts.
