WASHINGTON, USA – The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Traverse Project today signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen the capacity of OAS member states to combat organized crime, especially human trafficking and migrant smuggling, using technological tools and intelligence analysis and supporting data-driven strategies across borders.
During the signing ceremony held at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC, the CEO and Founder of Traverse Project, Austin Shamlin, said “this collaboration in the fight against transnational organized crime is of vital importance. We are happy to be able to provide technical assistance to you and member countries to take this fight to the next level.”
For his part, the OAS secretary-general, Albert Ramdin, recognized “the efforts made by the Traverse Project and our Department against Transnational Organized Crime for creating this partnership and for the valuable contribution of our distinguished mission of the United States.” He added that “to improve the situation on the ground we need to work from an operational perspective between the countries which are affected, and this is the way to do it by providing concrete assistance.”
The Traverse Project in a US nonprofit organization focused on fighting human trafficking with an approach based on data intelligence that targets trafficking networks.
