Innovative Startups to represent Taiwan at 2024 SelectUSA

TAIPEI, (Taiwan Today) – Nineteen innovative startups from Taiwan will represent the country at the SelectUSA Investment Summit scheduled for June 23-26 in Maryland, according to the ministry of economic affairs June 11, 2024.

Led by Wu Chia-ying, deputy director-general of the MOEA’s Small and Medium Enterprise Administration, the companies will showcase their products and services during the summit’s tech program, the MOEA said, adding that the winning enterprises will receive foreign investment and global cooperation opportunities.

Nine businesses have already been shortlisted, which is the most of any country attending. They are EndoSemio Co, Ltd., and RephImmune Biotechnology Inc. in health technology; IsCoolLab Co, Ltd., and Turing Drive Inc., in software and information and communications technology; Amelio Biotech Co, Ltd., and Sino Applied Technology Taiwan Co, Ltd., in clean technology; and Charco Science and Research Co, Ltd., Tac Dynamics Co, Ltd., and Taiwan Machine Sensory Co, Ltd., in open technology.

Wu said the US is of great importance to Taiwan’s startups due to the abundant investment opportunities, innovative spirit and mature business environment the country offers. The ministry has collaborated with the American Institute in Taiwan for three consecutive years to facilitate local startups’ entry into the US market, she added.

According to the MOEA, a total of 36 startups have participated in the program over the past two years, with four of them winning top prizes. The ministry has assisted 20 businesses in attaining a total of NT$1.8 billion (US$55.7 million) in foreign investment during the same period, it said.

Launched in 2013 by the US Department of Commerce, SelectUSA is a high-profile event promoting foreign direct investment in the US.
