Brazil – Cuba discuss bilateral partnership on food security

BRAZIL / CUBA, (TV BRICS) – Minister of development and social assistance, families and hunger alleviation, Wellington Dias received Cuban ambassador Adolfo Curbelo Castellanos in Brasilia to find joint solutions to food security and social development problems.

The meeting focused on cooperation and knowledge exchange between the two countries.

During the meeting, the ambassador stressed the strategic importance of food security for Cuba and expressed his desire to establish a formal partnership with Brazil. He stressed that Brazil had not had a Cuban ambassador in recent years and also pointed to the need to re-establish relations between the two countries. The diplomat said he is in contact with all Brazilian ministries to explore partnerships and exchanges, especially in the area of food security and the fight against hunger.

Minister Wellington Dias shared his desire to work together with Latin American countries in the social sphere, taking into account bilateral interests, to ensure food security and fight against hunger. During the meeting, the possibility of establishing partnerships in the food sector was discussed, given that both Brazil and Cuba have a large number of family farmers. The aim is to develop joint projects that promote sustainable food production and guarantee adequate access to food for the population.

Wellington Dias noted the openness to dialogue and the desire to strengthen ties with Latin America and the Caribbean.

Dias said that the meeting between the countries in Argentina was productive and the idea is to further strengthen cooperation in the social sphere, as reported by Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.
