HUB404 Proclaims April 4 is Gimme 4 Day

Gimme 4 is a grassroots effort to help fund first round of construction for cap park

ATLANTA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today the HUB404 Conservancy announces April 4 is “Gimme 4 Day.” The grassroots campaign asks Atlanta area residents to give as little as $4.04 to help get HUB404 off the ground. HUB404 will be a half-mile green space above Georgia 400 in Buckhead, creating an iconic 9-acre park above the highway.

“HUB404 is for Atlanta, by Atlanta,” says Anthony Rodriguez, executive director of the HUB404 Conservancy. “We will be an integral part of ‘The 404’, showcasing the culture, art and events that make Atlanta shine.”

Established by the Buckhead Community Improvement District (CID), HUB404 will bridge Lenox Road and Georgia 400, linking the PATH400 Greenway Trail, the Atlanta Beltline, MARTA, neighboring streets and neighborhood parks. The HUB404 mission is to create a world-class community-driven greenspace showcasing the best of Atlanta.

“Atlanta has long celebrated April 4 (4/04) as its own day,” says Jim Durrett, executive director, Buckhead Community Improvement District. “With HUB404 embodying the spirit of Atlanta, it is only fitting that we call on Atlantans to improve the city even more with donations to this incredible project. We know the community will love what HUB404 has to offer, and we are excited to bring it to life in the coming years.”

The project is funded by a mix of public and private donations. To date, HUB404 has raised approximately $1.2M, with more than $17,000 from grassroots donors. In addition, $4M in public sector funding has been dedicated to the project to date, most of that from the Buckhead CID. The project is poised to begin engineering pedestrian bridges over Lenox Road this year, with the engineering of the major section from Lenox Road to Peachtree Road expected to begin by 2024. Donations can be made at hub404.org/gimme4/.
