IDB Lab – Google launch new call for Women STEM Entrepreneurs

  • The initiative is aimed at high-growth startups in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Call will remain open until March 31, 2023, through the WeXchange platform.

WASHINGTON, USA – IDB Lab, the innovation laboratory of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group, and its WeXchange platform, which promotes the growth of women entrepreneurs in technology from the region, announce the launch of a new call for applications to connect the most innovative and dynamic women entrepreneurs in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) in the region with potential opportunities for access to financing.

This new edition of the WeXchange Women STEMpreneurs Competition will select fifteen startups with a co-founder or a woman on their leadership team with technology at the heart of their product or service. In addition, they must be based and operating in at least one country in Latin America or the Caribbean and be in the phase of raising financing from pre-Seed to Series B rounds.

The selected entrepreneurs will travel to Bogotá, Colombia, and present their companies on June 13 and 14 before key players from the Latin America and Caribbean innovation ecosystem during IDB Lab Forum 2023, the premier innovation event of the IDB Group.

They will also participate in the workshops, presentations, and personalized mentoring of the Startup Academy, the Google for Startups micro-acceleration program, connecting them with technology, digital marketing, leadership, and capital raising experts.

Interested companies may apply until March 31, 2023, using this link. Then, a virtual jury of leading investors from our region will study the applications, and on May 15, the entrepreneurs will be notified if they have been selected.

This call is in collaboration with the venture capital fund, AVP.

WeXchange activities are made possible through the support of the Women Entrepreneurs Funding Initiative (We-Fi).
